Since 2021, the authorities of Machu Picchu ordered that the visit to the Inca city be carried out according to strict routes. The objective. the goal? The objective is to reduce the risk of infection by Covid 19 and to protect and preserve the archaeological site for the future. Each visitor follows an itinerary depending on the ticket they have chosen: the Machu Picchu Solo ticket, the ticket that includes Mount Huayna Picchu, the ticket that includes Mount Machupicchu or the ticket that includes Mount Huchuy Picchu.
Circuit – Ticket only for Machu Picchu
The basic ticket to visit the Inca Citadel and its numerous constructions is the «Machu Picchu Only» ticket.
With this ticket you will be able to visit buildings such as the Temple of the Sun, the Sacred Plaza, the Temple of the 3 Windows, the Intihuatana, the Sacred Rock, the Temple of the Condor and more.
It also offers the possibility of taking short walks to the Intipunku (Puerta del Sol) and the Inca Bridge.
Obviously the ticket also allows the classic postcard photo with Machupicchu in the background.
To visit Machu Picchu with this ticket, the authorities have ordered the creation of two tourist circuits: Circuit 1 and Circuit 2.
ITINERARY N° 01 TO MACHU PICCHU
Anyone who wants to visit Machu Picchu will find that they can take four walking tours or tours inside the Inca Citadel. Circuit number 1 includes the highest part near the Machu Picchu mountain . Here you can take a short tour of the agricultural area and take a first look at Machu Picchu. This circuit begins at the well-known intersection of the Inca Llaqta access road from Machu Picchu.
At this point, you will step on a platform no more than 240 meters high. From here you will have the first full view of the Inca Citadel, then you can continue to the ceremonial platform where the famous guardian’s hut is located. From there you go down the path that leads to the Puente del Inca. You will find a path that descends from the Puerta del Sol (IntiPunku) and leads to the urban sector of the citadel. There you will see the main entrance or the main door. The main portal would be the original entrance to the urban sector of Machu Picchu. From the urban sector you can see the other side of the citadel.
The path continues to the quarry area (Granite Chaos). And if you continue on the road, you will descend towards a group of Inca constructions to reach the Temple of the Sun. Then you can continue and admire the House of the Inca, the Hall of Mirrors and the Temple of the Condor. This is an extension of route number 1. However, if you have the correct ticket , you can take advantage of the other circuits and learn more about the Inca Citadel.

Circuit – Ticket Machu Picchu with Huayna Picchu
The ticket that sells out the fastest is the «Machu Picchu with Huayna Picchu» ticket, which includes a visit to the top of this mountain and a tour of the Inca Citadel.
This ticket allows you to climb to the top of Huayna Picchu. Visitors can optionally take a detour and visit the Temple of the Moon (also known as the Great Grotto).
Likewise, at the exit of the mountain, the ticket allows the visit of Machu Picchu through Circuit 4.
ITINERARY N° 03 TO MACHU PICCHU
This route begins at the intersection of the access road to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. However, unlike circuits 1 and 2, it is assumed that the route through the area of agricultural platforms leads directly to the urban sector. This tour is the shortest tour of the Inca Citadel. The descent of no more than 30 meters begins to reach the colcas and continues along the path that crosses the agricultural sector. There you can admire the various agricultural terraces until you reach the main gate through which you enter the urban sector. From this point, head towards the Ceremonial Fountains, then continue south to enter the Temple of the Sun. Continuing on you will discover the Casa del Inka and then continue up the stairs to the fountains. From this point on, the tour follows the same route as Tour 1. This route takes no more than 3 hours. Since the maximum stay in Machu Picchu is 4 hours, you still have free time to explore the site on your own.
ITINERARY N° 04 TO MACHU PICCHU
Circuit 4 includes the same route as Circuit 3, except that it includes the Sacred Plaza, Intihuatana, the Sacred Rock, and goes around the Three Doors, the Hall of Mirrors, and the Temple of the Condor.
