Short Inca Trail Physical Preparation and important Facts
The Short Inca Trail is part of the network of ancestral trails used by the Inca civilization that have as their destination the lost city of Machu Picchu.
To enjoy this experience to the fullest it is advisable adequate acclimatization and physical preparation prior to the trip and upon arrival, now the right question is how to do this? SULLPAYKY EXPERIENCES gives you the best tips on how to be fit for the personalized 2-day trek to Machu Picchu.
Make previous preparation hikes
We recommend at least two months in advance to hike around the house and each time increase the distance and difficulty of the exercise. Monitor your heart rate and breathing. With that, your leg muscles and lungs are trained to face the challenge of the Inca Trail. You can also perform an experience upon arrival in the city of Cusco as the Sacred Valley that will help us in acclimatization.
Acclimatization for the Short Inca Trail is important.
Many of the visitors who wish to do this experience live in cities with very low altitude and it is possible that they may feel altitude sickness during the trip. Our experts recommend staying in the city of Cusco at least one day before your arrival and one day before the trek so that your body can get used to the altitude, climate and oxygen levels.
Drinking plenty of fluids is important
Water during pre-training and the Short Inca Trail is essential. Currently throughout the Machupicchu Sanctuary, the use of plastic is completely prohibited, so it is important to have a water bottle that you can refill with water. During your training, hydrate yourself at all times to get your body used to it.
Do not forget also to eat healthily and give up some habits you may have related to smoking to improve your breathing and alcohol for endurance.
Don’t overload your backpack for the Short Inca Trail
Sometimes we make the mistake of carrying more than we need for our trips is for this reason it is important to know that we should avoid carrying too many things in your travel backpack. Remember that there are no overnight camps on the Short Inca Trail and the night of the first day will be spent in the town of Aguas Calientes.
